New Schlenk Technology Makes Ultra-Thin Aluminium Pigments Possible

What effect can I achieve by formulating with ultra-thin aluminium pigments?

Until now, aluminium pigments have traditionally been classified as SilverDollar and Cornflakes, but technology has continued to evolve to meet the market’s most demanding requirements. One of these is achieving pigments capable of producing the highest possible metallic appearance, the so-called “mirror effect.”

Until now, this effect could only be achieved using VMP (Vacuum Metallized Pigments), whose manufacturing technology and production process are complex and costly.

This challenge has now been overcome with the UTM range, a series of extremely thin SilverDollar aluminium pigments that deliver outstanding metallic effects while also providing excellent hiding power.

The UTM series currently includes two products:

  • ALUSTAR 10600 UTM – 12 µm
  • ALUSTAR 10400 UTM – 18 µm
