It also has a direct economic impact.<br\/>Corrosion is a chemical or electrochemical process between a metal and its surrounding environment that leads to the deterioration of the metal surface. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HOW CAN A COATING PREVENT CORROSION?<\/strong><br\/>The applied coating acts as a barrier between the anode and the cathode, or between the metal and the surrounding electrolyte, preventing the metal&#8217;s chemical structure from interacting with environmental compounds such as water and oxygen that cause corrosion.<br\/>An ideal coating system should be impermeable to water and oxygen and prevent ion transport through the coating film.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><br\/>WHY USE A DISPERSANT?<\/strong><br\/>To ensure that the pigment remains properly stabilised within the system.
